Oxford Circle post office robbed again

An Oxford Circle post office was robbed at gunpoint for the second time in three months last Thursday.

It happened at about 11:30 a.m. on the 6300 block of Castor Ave. when a masked man pointed a black handgun at a clerk and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. He fled in a gold Buick sedan. The robber was described as black, 6 feet tall, with a mask and green hoodie.

6ABC reported on Friday that U.S. postal inspectors arrested Antwain Tomlin, 32, address unknown, for the crime.

A prior armed robbery at the same post office remains unsolved. It occurred on Aug. 20 at about 4:21 p.m. The robber was described as black and 40 to 50 years old with a beard, bucket hat, short-sleeve shirt with horizontal stripes and tan cargo shorts.

During a subsequent meeting of the Take Back Your Neighborhood civic association, members circulated a petition to save the post office, fearing that the earlier robbery would prompt the Postal Service to close it. ••
